OFFICER TIM SHELDON
HILLSBORO'S D.A.R.E. OFFICER
I started the D.A.R.E. programs with a powder blue 1991 Ford Crown Victoria. I asked the Chief for permission to paint it. With community support and donations I had it painted and decked out. The color of the paint and the scheme came from my home town of Battle Creek, Michigan. They had a similar D.A.R.E. car. I outfitted the vehicle with a push bumper and extra lights on the dash. Nice and shiny for the kids. They all loved it. We did however sell the '91 to the Taylorville Police Department.
We received Illinois First Funds which helped us by the current D.A.R.E. car. We went to Missouri Highway Patrol and bought it for a good price. I went a lot less extravagant on this D.A.R.E. car compared to the last. We bought rims for it a Lee's Tire Mart in Hillsboro and had Jorn Sign Company put on the decals.
